artistI was always engaged in creative activities.
In 1992, I had my first encounter with clay in Charlottesville, VA and I was hooked! I started wheel throwing and then switched to hand-building: coiling, slabbing, and pinching; most recently working in the realm of mixed media. For the past few years, I have been focusing on the slab technique. Usually, I press the clay using different patterns, revealing a unique design after the piece is fired-glazed. I like to experiment with other materials by embedding glass or strong metal with the clay body before the firing, or incorporating other media such as wood, feathers, beads or shells to the final piece. My artwork is mainly functional but can also be purely decorative. |
